On Thursday, February 24, 2022, Russia further invaded Ukraine creating the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II.

To support Ukrainians, we are offering pop-up collections for sale.  Proceeds will be donated to help Ukraine through the Ukrainian Credit Union "UCU Helps Ukraine Project".

We are proud to partner with incredible artists based in Ukraine & Canada.  KRAPKA is grateful to showcase how art, culture & humanitarian aid can help the world.

Artists

Michelle and Alex Stoney | Мішель і Алекс Стоуні are Gitxsan artists based in British Columbia, Canada.  Digging deep into their Indigenous roots and traditions, the brother-sister team create modern interpretations of the world around them.  During the early days of the COVID19 pandemic, Michelle created a colouring page containing the sunflower.  The Stoney's posted that the Sunflower was developed by Indigenous Peoples in North American for over 7000 years and all domesticated varieties of Sunflower come from the Americas.  In the 1500s, the Spanish brought them back to Europe where the Slavic peoples embraced the Sunflower.  (Jacob Beaton's FB timeline Tea Creek).  Alex says he wanted to share a visual representation of this unique relationship:  "I felt this information showed how we are all connected in some way.  Since we are all connected, we stand together".  KRAPKA reached out to the Stoney's about this humanitarian project fusing art & cultures, and they immediately agreed.

Specifications:

Fabric weight:

• 14.1 oz weight; a heavier quality weight that feels warm and substantial on your skin

80% cotton and 20% polyester bland fleece with 100% cotton face:

• Perfect combination of breathability (cotton) and warmth (polyester) with brushed fleece 

20 singles:

• Diameter of yarn used range between 18-40; lower singles, the looser the yarn making 20 singles face yarn for a durable and textured fabric face

Fit:

• Standard fit with wider collar, lower shoulder seams, straight sleeves, larger armholes, straight torso & tubular seams

Split stitch double needle sewing on all seams:

• Twice stitched to reinforce all seams for durability & strength

Jersey cotton lined hood:

• Provides soft, cozy and warm cover as hood is used to protect from weather

Twill neck tape:

• Flat herring bone twill woven fabric made of cotton used to reinforce seams for strength and to make garment flatten and sit correctly along neck

1x1 ribbing at cuffs & waistband:

• Type of fabric construction with patter of one rib, one flat space, one rib, one flat space, etc. to create continued pattern so both fabric sides look identical; used for sleeve cuffs, neck & waistband; highly elastic to retain shape & form

Pouch:

• Front pouch pocket to hold keys, phones & sunglasses

Metal eyelets & drawcord:

• Drawstrings to cover the head in inclement weather with durable stylish metal eyelets 

Print:

• State of the art water based inks and printing process that will not rub off, crack or peel
